The Stamford Advocate editorial board showed courage on Saturday, February 17 with this gem. Unfortunately, they don't post all their editorials online, so I typed this one in.

Here goes:

As he tries to extricate himself from dubious charges in which police say he threatened the governor, Kenneth Krayeske can at least console himself that he's won some new friends in high places.

Whether they'll be able to help him much is doubtful, but their involvement signals how important Mr. Krayeske's situation is to all of us, and why it bears scrutiny. At stake could be our ability to speak out against public figures without fear of reproach, a bedrock value of our society that came under attack last month in Hartford.

The concept of non-binding resolutions opposing the war in Iraq anger Sen. Chris Dodd.

"We need to get away from the non-binding proposals. They are infuriating," Dodd said this afternoon during a short conference call with Ned Lamont and Congressman John Larson.

"The House did better than the Senate in this regard," Dodd said during his three minute call. The call between Dodd, Larson and Lamont was piped into about 30 organizing meetings attended by around 1,000 people.

A bunch of pamphlets fell out of a bookshelf in my house and sat on the floor in a corner for some time before I picked them up last night. One of them, an oblong 4 inch by 12 inch booklet was titled, "How Mr. Bush Got His War: Deceptions, Double Standards and Disinformation." I did a double-take.

No, not George W. Bush, the other one, George H.W. Bush.

Shortly after the First Gulf War ended 16 years ago in February 1991, the late Prof. Michael Emery wrote an article that explored the diplomatic double-crosses between the United States, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq that led to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

D ean Pagani, former press secretary for John G. Rowland, takes aim at Gov. M. Jodi Rell today in his Media Attache column online and in print in the Hartford Business Journal.

He calls his masterwork "The Loyalty of Longshanks."

In the pivotal battle scene of the movie Braveheart, King Edward Longshanks orders his archers to fire at will on a mass of soldiers fighting in the fields of Scotland. His field commander says, “Beg your pardon sire, but won’t we hit our own troops?” To which the king replies, “Yes…but we’ll hit theirs as well. We have reserves…attack!”

This is the image that came to mind as Governor Rell fired on her own troops over what has come to be known as The Krayeske Affair.

Things of import that occurred this week, that I had no place for anywhere else:

Anonymous sources - via Newsday and the LNGLawBlog - suggest that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer may be predisposed to approving Broadwater. I hope not.

Talking Broadwater Blues: Colin McEnroe has me on his radio showon 1080AM earlier this week to discuss Fire Island, as he calls the floating gas barge.

You can't please all the people: Concerned citizen Beverly Francis of North Haven scribed a letter to the Advocate this week about my Broadwater coverage.

Michael Marciano over at the Winsted Journal has written another follow up on this never-ending arrest.

The editorial board down at the New London Day again called for the state to "Withdraw the Charges." (h/t Cool Justice)

Ken Dixon, the CT Post's go-to guy at the Capitol, suggests Gov. Rell could spend some of her political capital by making me Freedom of Information Commissioner. Thanks, but let me finish law school first.

Earlier in the week, the CT Post uncovered a huge story - that my lawyer and I have different opinions. Go figure.
